Adelante Mujer Latina

Nogales has arranged a bus to take participants from Nogales to the conference in Pasadena. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Sandoval immediately. The registration deadline is April 1st.

2008-2009 Registration
Starting this week, your English teachers will be handing out registation materials for next year. You will recieve a transcript, a registration form, and a course offerings list. Please do not lose these! Take them home and review them with your parents. Completely fill out your registration form and have your parents sign it.
Starting with Juniors, we will call you in individually starting March 13th. When you get your call slip, bring your registration form with you. If you do not have your registration form, the registation form is not completed or it does not have your parent's signature, we will send you back to class. Once you have your registration form completed, you can drop it off with your counselor and we will keep it till we call you in.
During this registration meeting, we will register you for next year's classes and sign you up for Summer School. If you have any questions, please see your counselor.
Mt. Sac Enrollments
If you missed the Mt. Sac registration workshops, you can still enroll. Elmer Rodriguez from Mt. Sac will be here every Friday from 12:00 to 2:00pm in K4 to help your register and answer any questions you might have about attending Mt. Sac. Important!! This Friday, March 7th, Mr. Rodriguez will be handing out materials to help prepare you for the Mt. Sac placement test.
Mt. Sac Placement Test will be held March 14th from 8:00 to 11:00am in the Manor. This test is mandatory for Seniors planning attending Mt. Sac... get it done at Nogales.

FAFSA Deadline
OUR ADIVCE: Get the infomation in and file the FASA today from home. We can modify the dollar amounts, colleges you're sending information to, etc LATER-You must file by today to recieve the funds!
Go to fafsa.ed.gov (Watch out! Not fafsa.com or other scam sites). You'll need your parent(s) tax information-you can use prior years and say, "will file." If you paid taxes, you'll need your tax information as well.

ROP Microsoft Computer Class!
The Microsoft Certified Applications Specialist Exam Preparation (MCAS-EP) class will be offered Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6- 9 pm.
In this class you can learn the competencies to pass the MCAS exam for any of the Office 2007 software or the MOS Office 2003 software.
To sign up, see Ms. Morris, our ROP Specialist in the College and Career Center. She is on campus Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Financial Aid
The deadline for applying for Financial Aid is fast approaching! It's March 2nd!! Please be sure to apply before the deadline. If you qualify, financial aid can help you pay for a four year college, community college, and vocational/trade schools.
We have several financial aid workshops left before the deadline. If you need help please attend one of these workshops or see your counselor. We want every Senior to fill out a Financial Aid application. You can apply for Financial Aid online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The remaining Financial Aid workshops are:
February 19 from 12:00 to 5:00pm in A18
February 20 from 12:00 to 3:00pm in A2
February 22 from 12:00 to 3:00pm in A2
February 23rd is the Cash for College workshop at Mt. Sac. Mt. Sac will have over 200 financial aid professionals there to help you fill out the FAFSA. If you attend, you will be entered to win a $1000 scholarship!

Community Involvement Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicant must be a full time high school senior planning on attending a community or a four year college.
Applicant must have completed his/her volunteer hours with either the Rose Float Foundation or for any other non-profit organization serving the City of West Covina (such as the American Red Cross, City of West Covina, church groups, community hospitals, and other non-profit community projects).
To apply, fill out a completed application, a letter of recommendation, a 300 word essay describing your volunteer activities and why you should win the scholarship. Completed applications are due to the West Covina Rose Float Foundation by March 14th.

Mt. Sac Senior Schedule
To participate in the Mt. Sac Online Application Senior Workshop go the guidance office and sign up for the workshop...the sign up form is in a bright yellow file folder at the switchboard. You must choose a period: either 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th period. Make sure you print your name and your teacher's name for that period. Right behind the yellow folder is a hall pass form, print your name on that form as well and leave it in the folder. The date for the workshop is February 20th.
On February 20th, the date of the workshop:
*You must check in with your teacher first and they should have the pass for you for that period.
*We will have a sign in sheet in the computer lab to clear your absence.
*If you attend this workshop, you will automatically be signed up for the Mt. Sac placement tests on March 14th in the manor.
*Any student that completes the online application on this day will be given a permission form for the Mt. Sac Senior Day on March 5th (there are only 40 spots available for this trip).
*You will also be able to pick up EOP&S and Bridge applications at the workshop.
Mt. Sac placement tests will be on March 14th in the Manor from 7:30am to 11:00am. All Seniors that applied online at the online workshop can check into the Manor for the placement tests.
