CSU/UC Application Workshops
We will have workshops every period in A2 on October 29 and October 30.
What you need to do: if you haven't started your CSU application, go to csumentor.edu.  Work on it at home.  Come in during on of the workshops and we'll check it for you before you submit.
You can start working on your UC applications, but you can't submit till after November 1st.  The application site is www.universityofcalifornia.edu.  Again, don't send it until we have checked it.
The deadline for both the UC and the CSU applications is November 30th.

SAT/ACT Tests
The deadline for the December SAT is November 1st.  The deadline for the December ACT is November 2nd.  Four year colleges will accept either tests, but you must complete all testing by December.

Financial Aid Applications start January 1st.
You will receive a letter from the NHS Guidance team if we are missing your social security number.  You'll need this to complete the FAFSA for state and federal aid.  You will also need to be a citizen or permanent resident (green card).  Please note: you do not need to be documented to apply for college or tests.  The California Dream Act will also provide financial aid this year for undocumented students.  We will have "Jumpstart" meeting on Financial Aid on December 13th.
Be careful of Financial Aid scams!!  The official site is www.fafsa.ed.gov.  We will help you fill our your forms in January.  Please note, the FAFSA gives aid to both 2 and 4 year colleges, vocational/trade/tech schools too.  The Dream Act will help pay for both 2 and 4 year colleges for undocumented students.  There's no excuse not to apply for and go to college.
